Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) is holding its pre-selection exam for the 2024-25 academic year tomorrow, January 23, 2025. Over 24,000 students will compete for a chance to appear in the main admission test. The pre-selection exam will be conducted in three shifts to accommodate the large number of applicants:

Shift 1: 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM (Roll numbers 40001-48071)

Shift 2: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM (Roll numbers 60001-68070)

Shift 3: 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM (Roll numbers 70001-78070)

This pre-selection exam follows the initial application process, which opened on November 30, 2024, and closed on December 14, 2024. Nearly 26,000 students applied, and 24,205 were deemed eligible for the pre-selection round.

- Pre-selection Exam: January 23, 2025
- Expected Date for Main Exam Eligibility List: February 4, 2025
- Main Admission Exam: February 13, 2025 (Module A: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Module B: 2:00 PM – 3:30 PM)
- Expected Date for Final Admission List: March 8, 2025
Main Admission Exam Details:
- Module A (Group A & B): Higher Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry (Based on the revised HSC 2024 syllabus)
- Module B (Group B): Freehand Drawing and Visual Spatial Intelligence.
Exam Structure and Grading:

Group A: 400 marks written exam

Group B: 800 marks written exam (including Module A subjects and Module B specific subjects)
Available Seats: BUET offers 1305 seats for the 2024-25 academic year. An additional four seats are reserved for students from the Chittagong Hill Tracts and other minority groups (3 for Engineering and Urban & Regional Planning, 1 for Architecture), bringing the total to 1309.
